Psychedelic Mooj pays homage to vintage rock, Analog Soup
CHANDLER, AZ, Jan. 10, 2011 – Psychedelic Mooj pays homage to late 60’s / early 70’s classic rock on their latest release, Analog Soup. The band had one goal in mind when entering the studio: keep things simple and blow people’s minds. The band does this with old school groove, vintage tone, raw energy, and rock-solid rhythm. This album, their first release on Univibe Garden Records, LLC is considered by them to capture their ‘live’ sound better than any of their other previous albums.
Formed in Chandler, Arizona, in 2005, Psychedelic Mooj evolved from playing amped-up traditional blues to become one of Arizona’s preeminent psychedelic blues jam bands. Founding members Ram Tuli, Richard Chavez and Dave Hull were joined by Ram’s 15-year old son, Will Tuli, in 2010 to record Analog Soup. The result was incredible and must be heard to be believed.
Analog Soup was recorded and engineered by the legendary Shane Matsumoto. Psychedelic Mooj has worked with Matsumoto before, including appearances on the IMP television and radio shows. Matsumoto understood what the band wanted: an album that sounded like it was recorded in the mid-70s. Matsumoto captured their vintage sound and raw energy perfectly in the large open studio rooms of SER Soundworks in Chandler, AZ. Everything was mic’ed—including the hallways outside the studio. Richard Chavez even destroyed three of his amps in the process.
Much of the material on Analog Soup was developed on stage beginning as far back as 2007. Nothing went on this album that wasn’t thoroughly “road tested.” The first song, “Mean Mistreatin’ Woman,” blasts off like a rocket and then the album never comes down from there. Other tunes such as “South of Tombstone,” “Cage Fightin’ Man,” and “Lead Mack” harken back to the arena rock days of the mid-1970s. Psychedelic Blues gems like “God’s Greatest Gift,” “Wayback on the 8-Track,” and the title track “Analog Soup,” will take you on a mind-melting journey that will make your head swim and hips shake. Other songs like “Gainesville Bride” and “South Wabash Blues” prove Psychedelic Mooj has deep roots in the blues.

About Psychedelic Mooj:
Heavily influenced by 70’s rock legends such as Humble Pie and Robin Trower, the band writes and performs original music that is heavily guitar dominated atop a rock solid drum and bass rhythm foundation. Guitar players R. Tuli and Chavez have refined their vintage tone over many years and it has become an essential part of their sound. The unique collective sound of Psychedelic Mooj has few rivals when it comes to raw energy and talent.
